RESPONSIBILITIES

• Providing accurate, relevant, and timely advice to SBM on a variety of legal topics in support of the Global Supply Chain group within the Global Resources & Services (GR&S) business line with a particular focus on support to Turnkey projects as well as Operations (including Brownfield projects).
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements, utilizing both standard templates utilized by SBM and industry standard templates, including contracts for the procurement of good and services, framework agreements, EPC(I) contracts, Memoranda of Agreements (MoAs), MOUs, confidentiality agreements and the like;
• Assessing, proposing (and where appropriate) ensuring and managing, adequate mitigation of legal risks to the project teams and GR&S business line.
• Providing support and legal advice to the project teams in respect of all claims under above types of contracts, including claims for delay, extensions of time (EOT), force majeure, additional costs and the like
• Managing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines from the Global Supply Chain group and where necessary the wider GR&S business line, often within tight timeframes.
• Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business.
• Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company.
• Communicating with and managing certain third-parties such as external counsel, contract lawyers, experts and/or auditors in line with SBM legal services procurement processes (including providing feedback on legal panel performance).
• Staying up to date with changes to legislation and case law, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the supply chain and procurement.
• Contribute to training to Global Supply Chain, project teams and within LCCI
• Providing input on and/or proposing adequate legal tools/contractual set-ups to serve SBM's primary business goals.
• Liaising with the business leaders and support functions.
• Reporting and updating LCCI Leadership Team, Head of Legal for GR&S and relevant business stakeholders on key legal issues and risks, including lessons learnt and improvement areas for the business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Law degree common law, or civil law with extensive common law working experience
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) (Dutch, French and Portuguese language skills are a plus)
• A minimum of 4 years PQE as in-house lawyer or in private practice a must
• Experience in major construction projects, particularly offshore oil & gas
• Experience of supporting supply chain / project procurement
